Floating through space passing galaxies for times on end. The Discovery 1’s interstellar travel is closely monitored by Atelier van Asseldonk. After laying first contact with the Weld-Robot, the light was captured and wrapped in steel seams to be harnessed and put to good use. The first discovery after experimenting with the new found tool and the appearance of the monolite.
The cylindrical shape and double light source bring bygone futurism to our 21 st century buildings and spaces. Colouring gradually through the full spectrum and adjustable in brightness. The lamp has many skin types and finishes to apply on the stainless steel base.
With our weld-robot we created the first lighting series. The bronze welds on the stainless steel base colour brown when minimally oxidized.
The bronze welds colour to a beautiful natural green after a rapid oxidization proces.
A single version we made is a polished bronze piece. The lines are all handmade and we therefor choose new verison eacht time we produce.
We presented our works during the Dutch Design Week.
