The Unimate is part of the Modern Times collection and playfully refers to the first robotic arm that was used in production lines in the fifties could make. The standing lamp can be adjusted to three positions; mimicking the basic movements of that first robotic arm.
The arm of the Unimate was manufactured from the wood of a century old oak tree, the lampshade was casted from aluminum using an old but proven process. The techniques used are contradictory with the idea of industrialization, and show the friction between the craftsmanship we value in our studio against the fast moving, mass producing, and plastic looking design world that was happening at the time the Unimate was created. The lamp works perfectly as a bold statement that celebrates the past, but also perfectly blends you’re your contemporary interior.
